Job Overview
TE Connectivity's Purchasing Teams are responsible for obtaining materials, components, equipment and services, gather quotations, examine bids, and award contracts. They perform cost analysis and volume planning for commodities, evaluate vendor reliability and develop new supply sources where required. They coordinate purchasing activities with the manufacturing and engineering departments to maintain inventory at planned levels and monitor cost, schedule, and scope of assigned subcontracts to assure best quality at best value. They also look for and recommend cost saving proposals including make vs. buy analysis, alternative sourcing, and vendor evaluation criteria as well as develop specifications for new contract orders.

Purpose of Position
Purchasing Supervisor sets the strategic course and goals of the Purchasing Department under the direction of the Supply Chain Manager and supervises the activities of the local buyers.

Essential Functions

  • Develop the local purchasing strategy in support of overall business objectives.
  • Establish interfaces to provide support & include input from engineering, product development, manufacturing & suppliers.
  • Attend & participate in production and managers meetings.
  • Achieve department financial, operational and quality results.
  • Develop cost reduction/profit improvement plans to directly impact economic.
  • Lead, develop and maintain a highly capable team of Buyers.
  • Knowledge of tracking and expediting materials throught Transport and Customs.

Required Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities or Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in appropriate field with 3 years' experience in Purchasing.
  • Experience in creating, leading & driving teams.
  • Negotiating experience.
  • Experience in effectively managing both internal & external relationships with cross-functional groups & suppliers.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage & motivate others.
  • Understanding of the following commodities: diecast, screw machine, molding, wire & cable, electronics desired. 
  • Ability to travel occasionally.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and organization skills.
  • Fully Bilingual English - Spanish.

Computer Proficiency

  • Experience with MRP System SAP
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel Spreadsheets, Word and Power Point.
