Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in chemical, Materials or Metallurgical Engineering or Technology field and/or 2 years experience in Surface Finishing processes.
- Be familiar with Ni, PdNi, Au, Ag, Cd, ZnNi plating processes.
- 3D CAD – Creo and/or Solidworks skills.
- Proven and effective problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Understand test standards for plating layer, such as salt spray test, nitric acid test, etc.
- Fluent in using of basic process development related tools like DFM, PFMEA, DOE.
- Self-directed and highly motivated.
- Spanish and English written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be willing to travel as required (15% max) to support NPI launch timelines as well as accommodate other time zones for global collaboration.
Responsibilities:
- Develops individual projects or specific elements of medium size projects.
- Manages technical elements while maintaining performance and schedule.
- Review drawings, compare internal and external specifications against manufacturing processes, identifies gaps, and provides timely information to address discrepancies.
- Provide technical support to the manufacturing floor, including visual aids, instructions, inspection forms, etc., to support Production and Quality objectives.
- Provide technical assistance to ensure quality of production, product engineering and materials to resolve operational issues and launch of new or modified products.
- Provide strategies for WoM projects.
- Core team member on projects.
- Competency in using technical tools, such as Minitab, TrueChem and Excel.
- Basic knowledge of general engineering tools (LEAN or 6-sigma), such as DoE, FMEA, QFD, etc.
- Influence in the present role at the individual project team level.
- Ensure applicable process specifications, adhering to manufacturing release procedures according to Precision Power Solutions LEAN PD process and procedures.
- Provide necessary support to Product and Industrial engineering to provide best fit solutions to meet product requirements and optimized cost.
- Identify the best way to manufacture the product / product components using conventional or new to TE processes.
- Control and modify Process FMEAs according to the changes in manufacturing.
- Provide support in troubleshooting for process related issues in the plating operation.
- Qualify and certificate new products as part of the insource projects.
- Capture & share lessons learned and store release documents in the TE project management system.
- Ensure tooling design documentation is up to date and stored in the TE PDMLink system when the process is released to production at a supplier or transferred to Operations.
- When specific knowledge is needed to run the process ensure that the receiving operations team is aware upfront with this clearly documented
- Work with Global Center of Excellences and Manufacturing teams to ensure lessons learned are deployed across the BU for successful ready-to-deploy initiatives.
- Ensure process documentation meets all TE Quality and Engineering system requirements.
- Ensure plating tool and process is designed to be capable of producing good quality products efficiently at lowest possible cost and Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) requirements.
- Introduce and evaluate new technology of plating chemicals to improve plating efficiency and meet cost saving target.
