Job Overview

TE Connectivity’s R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams conceive original ideas for new products, introduce them into practice. They are responsible for product development, and qualification from market definition through production and release; assist in the qualification of suppliers for new products to ensure suppliers deliver quality parts, materials, and services for new or improved manufacturing processes; conduct feasibility studies, testing on new and modified designs; direct and support detailed design, testing, prototype fabrication and manufacturing ramp. The R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams provide all required product documentation including, but not limited to, Solid Model, 2D/3D production drawings, product specifications, and testing requirements. They create and modify detailed drawings and drafting or conceptual models from layouts, rough sketches or notes and contribute to design modifications to facilitate manufacturing operation or quality of product. Typical fields of expertise include: materials, mechanics and systems, electrical, optics, chemistry, software, automation systems, packaging, testing and measurement, and manufacturing of electrical, mechanical and electronic components, products, and their integration into systems.

What your background should look like:

Your main tasks will be...

  • Analyze various EV system architectures on the level of battery protection and charging, study benefits and drawbacks
  • Translate vehicle level architecture requirements into component level requirements
  • Support requirement discussions with customers / translate towards system level 
  • Support creation of system level models and digital twins
  • Seek technology trends influencing the architecture and the vehicle systems
  • Contribute to defining the TE product and technology roadmaps 
  • Help define requirements for market or platform products (help define scalability)
  • Propose and support benchmarking activities
  • Build relationships with universities and technical experts active on system level design
  • Follow general industry trends, technology trends for xEV specifically
  • Maintain a view on industry standards and regulations
  • Work closely together with Product Engineering, Product Management, Field Application Engineering, Simulation experts. 

We are looking for somene with:

  • Master Electrical / Electromechanical / Mechatronics Engineering
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Automotive Industry (preferably Engineering)
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Electric Vehicle Systems Development: Charging/Battery/Powertrain 
  • EV system architecture knowledge on the level of battery management (BMS/BDU) and/or charging systems (OBC)
  • Understand component specifications related to the vehicle systems in focus 
  • Technical understanding of vehicle HV safety system architecture, related components and their interaction (HV battery, fuses, BDU, contactor, etc.)
  • Preferred knowledge on the technical aspects concerning BDU development (contactors, current sensing, fuses, electronics architectures, thermal design etc.) 
  • Awareness of the xEV vehicle architecture trends and evolution in the market 
  • Capable of leading a technology project in the area of system analysis / model creation
  • Be comfortable in a global context and in an organizational matrix setup
  • Good business acumen and sense of urgency in context of speed of innovation 
  • Excellent communication skills and reporting skills 
  • Some background or experience with system simulation tools (e.g. MATLAB/Simulink)
  • Knowledge of heat propagation and thermodynamics
  • Knowledge of functional safety requirements and analysis
