Job Overview

TE Connectivity’s R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams conceive original ideas for new products, introduce them into practice. They are responsible for product development, and qualification from market definition through production and release; assist in the qualification of suppliers for new products to ensure suppliers deliver quality parts, materials, and services for new or improved manufacturing processes; conduct feasibility studies, testing on new and modified designs; direct and support detailed design, testing, prototype fabrication and manufacturing ramp. The R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams provide all required product documentation including, but not limited to, Solid Model, 2D/3D production drawings, product specifications, and testing requirements. They create and modify detailed drawings and drafting or conceptual models from layouts, rough sketches or notes and contribute to design modifications to facilitate manufacturing operation or quality of product. Typical fields of expertise include: materials, mechanics and systems, electrical, optics, chemistry, software, automation systems, packaging, testing and measurement, and manufacturing of electrical, mechanical and electronic components, products, and their integration into systems.

What your background should look like:

Your main tasks will be...

  • Conduct simulations and analyses to develop, optimize and validate electro-mechanical components and systems
  • Implement multi-physics simulations to model interactions between mechanical and electrical components
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements and objectives
  • Create digital twin system models specifically for aspects around battery protection and vehicle charging systems
  • Evaluate and interpret simulation results to provide insights and recommendations for design improvements
  • Perform electrical, thermal, structural, and fluid dynamic analyses 
  • Validate simulation models in cooperation with design and test engineers to improve simulation accuracy
  • Stay up to date on industry trends and advancements in simulation techniques and tools
  • Work closely with design and engineering teams to integrate simulation insights into the product development process.
  • Build relationships with universities and technical experts active on component and system level simulations
  • Follow general industry trends, technology trends for xEV specifically
  • Work closely together with Product Engineering, Product Management, Field Application Engineering

We are looking for someone with:

  • Bachelor’s/ Master’s degree in Mechanical / Electrical / Mechatronics engineering or related
  • Proven experience in conducting simulations for mechanical and electrical systems
  • Experience in automotive industry is a plus 
  • Experience in the E-mobility related fields is a plus: charging/battery/powertrain systems
  • Proficiency in simulation software such as ANSYS, COMSOL, MATLAB, or similar tools
  • Strong understanding of multi-physics simulations and their applications
  • Solid background in mechanical and electrical principles
  • Knowledge of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)
  • Knowledge of thermal management, heat propagation and thermodynamics
  • Programming skills in languages such as Python
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Effective communication skills to convey complex simulation results to non-experts
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
  • Good business acumen and sense of urgency in context of speed of innovation 
  • Familiarity with control systems and signal processing
