Job Overview

The Transportation Solutions Engineering Rotational Program is designed to provide participants with a broad exposure to the elements of the product engineering process, such as concept, development, testing, launch and sustaining. The 2-year program consists of multiple rotations in a variety of areas. At the conclusion of the program, participants will be placed in an engineering role within the Sensors Solutions Business Unit.


The final position for this mechanical engineering role will be Tlalnepantla, Mexico.  Rotations will include Tlalnepantla as well as several locations across the US, possibly including but not limited to: Hampton, VA; Andover, MN; Fremont, CA; Chatsworth, CA; Harrisburg, PA; Winston Salem, NC.

Responsibilities & Qualifications


As a Mechanical Engineering Rotational Associate, your responsibilities may include experiences in the following areas:

  • Mechanical Design including
    • Defining concepts and designs according to customer requirements (internal / external)
    • Selection and proper application of materials and components
    • Investigating pertinent design factors such as ease of manufacture, selection of materials, and developing performance specifications, bill of materials and cost estimates
    • Creating the 3D models and the detail, assembly and customer 2D drawings
    • Calculation of fits and tolerances
    • Performing analytical calculations, directing FEA analysis
    • Managing prototype development
    • Participating in the development of DFMEA and PFMEA
    • Defining, performing or monitoring validation tests and writing test reports
    • Working with process and manufacturing engineering to help define the production process
  • Communicating with customers/suppliers and supporting TE sales team.
  • Managing changes on production designs
  • Driving performance, reliability or cost improvement projects
  • Participating in quality root cause and corrective action analysis and risk assessments
  • Observing or short assignments with production, manufacturing engineering, quality and the test lab to understand these areas and their interaction with product engineering
  • Exposure to TE’s Operational continuous improvement approach (TEOA) and Six Sigma practices


  • Eligible candidates must have graduated between January 2018 and July 2018 with 0-3 years industry experience
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
  • Minimum GPA (Promedio) in major of 8.7
  • Proficient in English (read, write & speak) – Fluent preferably
  • Previous internship and/or work experience preferred
  • Geographically mobile
  • US visa is a plus
