TE Connectivity's Purchasing Teams are responsible for obtaining materials, components, equipment and services, gather quotations, examine bids, and award contracts. They perform cost analysis and volume planning for commodities, evaluate vendor reliability and develop new supply sources where required. They coordinate purchasing activities with the manufacturing and engineering departments to maintain inventory at planned levels and monitor cost, schedule, and scope of assigned subcontracts to assure best quality at best value. They also look for and recommend cost saving proposals including make vs. buy analysis, alternative sourcing, and vendor evaluation criteria as well as develop specifications for new contract orders.

 

Key roles and responsibility:

  • Develop and drive supplier sourcing strategy, under strong consideration of customer needs, that defines strategic suppliers into grow, fix and exit suppliers and maintains product footprint to ensure competitive advantages 
  • Responsible to screen the market to identify suppliers and demands for the future and to identify development partners under guidance 
  • Leads quarterly business reviews with strategic suppliers, including review of financial, quality, and delivery performance targets 
  • Drives cost reductions through annual negotiations with strategic suppliers to meet annual budget objective  
  • Ensures compliance with the global sourcing process and policies for all activities under responsibility 
  • Negotiate pricing and all other elements related to supplier contract terms and conditions 
  • Engage with NPI teams for new project awareness and proactively work to close technology gaps 
  • Ensure compliance to TE policies, procedures, and quality standards

 

What your background should look like:

  • Bachelor degree in Economics or Industrial Engineering or equivalent 
  • Minimum one year procurement experience within the industry, automotive or commodity related 
  • This position requires a highly motivated individual with excellent problem solving skills, good interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to multi-task 
  • Ability to demonstrate strong customer focus and continues improvement attitude
  • Good knowledge in the use of SAP MM and Microsoft Office, i.e. Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint
  • Strong multi-cultural and interpersonal skillset including cross-functional teamwork 
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken
