Job Overview

The Staff R&D/ Product development engineer will be responsible for Design & Development and testing of new products used in Aerospace, Space, Defence and Marine Applications. These products and sub-systems comprise of power electronics, embedded controllers, relays, and optoelectronics circuit integrated together along with various connectivity options like ARINC-429, MIL-1553, RS485 and RFoF.

This job function will include defining the product/sub-system architecture, conceptual design, detailed design analysis, coordination of sample builds, oversight of verification/qualification testing and product industrialization support. The Staff Engineer will work within NPD team that includes the other disciplines like ME, QE, SW, SCM, Sales, FAE, and project management. The position will require direct communication with external customers and suppliers, as well as interaction with internal business development, corporate technology, manufacturing, quality, and testing functions. Some domestic and/or international travel may be required. The Staff Engineer will work closely with Global and Local cross functional team to develop Products by translating a customer requirement into a Product requirement, work through the Development cycle including Testing, Approval and Release into Production.

Responsibilities:

Development of next generation products. Activities may include:


•    Design and Development of electronics products with complete PDLC ownership
•    Definition and coordination of test programs for purposes of design verification, product qualification and certification
•    Serve as liaison between Business Development, Marketing, Sales, Procurement, Manufacturing, contract design teams, customers, suppliers, and various other Engineering functions
•    Generation of product drawings, application specifications, and instruction sheets
•    Implementation of design changes to enhance product quality, improve manufacturability, and/or reduce manufacturing cost
•    Review functional/performance specifications provided by customers and ensure that product requirements have been properly defined and documented prior to production.
•    Perform/coordinate failure analysis work and determine corrective actions
•    Initiation of Engineering Changes to improve designs, improve manufacturing, or respond to changes requested by the customer
•    Achieve scope, schedule, and budget requirements
•    Report out on project status and achieve KPIs targets
•    Meet all established project deadlines with cost, quality, and schedule targets
•    Keeping management informed of problems, issues, and status of on-going projects. 
•    Work with local and global counterpart / stake holder for ensuring quality deliverable and project execution with effective risk management 
•    Work closely with third party vendor / supplier to define the technical requirements for the product and project execution
•    Mentor the new team members on design and development of power electronics and opto-electronics products

Candidate Desired Profile:

Education/ Knowledge:


•    BE/BTech with specialization in Electronics & Communications Engineering
•    Min 12 years of experience in Electronics product design and development 

 

Critical experience:


•    Electronics hardware design for ruggedized electronics used in aerospace, space, Defence, marine, EV, and industrial applications
•    Experience with power supply design, power switching modules and distribution units 
•    Well versed with power supply topologies and high-power design for power supplies, motor drives (BLDC, PMSM) and power distribution & control
•    Experience with digital electronics circuit design using microcontroller and FPGA 
•    Experience with standard test equipment such as oscilloscopes, power meters, logic analyzers, signal/spectrum analyzers, etc.
•    Experience in design for EMI/EMC and qualification testing as per standards such as DO-160, MIL-461, MIL-704, CISPR-25 and IEC 
•    Hands-on with simulation tools such as PSpice, LTspice and Matlab
•    Good understanding about power circuits and PCB Thermal management 
•    Hands-on with design using Power MOSFET, IGBT and SiC/GaN devices and power controller/management chips 
•    Familiar with power distribution architecture used in Aircraft, eVTOL/Drones, military vehicles, Electric vehicles and EVSE systems
•    Handsonb-on with Integrated system design using relays, electronics, and microcontrollers for fault tolerant system applications
•    Familiar with RF Microwave design and use of ADS, Sonnet and HFSS software will be an added advantage
•    Familiar with software development and tools will be an added advantage
•    Familiar with electro optics design specifically experience with optical transceivers 
•     Familiar with High-Speed RF and/or Mixed Signal hardware Circuit Schematic and PCB layout Design and analysis
•    Experience with Ethernet, Fiber Channel, Infiniband, and Rapid I/O standards
•    Familiar with the SMPTE and DVI/HDMI video standards and protocols like I2C and SPI 
•    Awareness about Airborne SW and HW design guidelines per DO-178 and DO-254
