Job Overview

TE Connectivity’s Engineering Managers provide leadership for cross functional engineering teams. They work with senior management to define technical road maps aligned with market directions and communicate across other Business Units to share applicable technology. Our Engineering Managers leverage TE global technology to increase competitive position and increased value to our customers. They identify relevant technology trends and opportunities, develop relationships and partnerships with key customers, industry leaders and core suppliers, define and manage IP strategy, assess talent and implement development plans to assure succession planning and organization capability.

As first of a team, you'll have the chance to grow the local organization and be in regular touch with senior leadership in TE Connectivity organization. You will help build the team that you will ultimately, in the future, manage. This will be a kick-start of a carrier in Engineering management. Team will support SUS-work for our European plants, with focus on Bydgoszcz - but including the various other EU-plants where needed. Initial scope of the team will be (ATEX) subsystems, but later expanding into other product-groups as lighting, signal, CCAO, etc.
 

Responsibilities:

• Work on design of product line extensions using pertinent information to ensure accuracy and precision in production of the product
• Work on VAVE (value analysis and value engineering) projects for existing product lines to bring down cost and increase product competitiveness
• Work with multi-functional project teams consisting of Sales, Product Management, Project Management, Manufacturing Development, Purchasing, Operations, & Quality
• Engage with customers on product application questions and quality concerns for responsible products
• Evaluate and make decisions on manufacturing deviation requests
• Manage tool transfer and first article approvals as required
• Create and edit designs, product and application specifications as required to facilitate efficient manufacturing and cost-effective manufacturing strategies
• Coordinate with product testing labs (internal and external) for product validation and qualification testing
• Write Product and Manufacturing change notifications as required for responsible products
• Evaluate and implement material changes including polymers, metals, and plating
• Complete First Article Approvals, Process Capability Studies, & 8D reports as required
• Work with Product Management and Engineering Documentation Systems to support Digital Part Content initiatives

What your background should look like:

•Education Background: Mechanical Engineering or Electromechanical Engineering
•Experience with Industry tools and processes (Design For Manufacturability, First Article Approvals, Capability Studies, 8D reports, Critical to Quality, Incoming Quality Inspection, In Process Controls, Outgoing Quality, End-of-Line testing)    
•Strong Product development engineering experience (preferably with ATex/IECex, Automotive)    
•Experience with main materials and processes used (molding of polymers, stamping/forming of metals, plating)    
•Self-motivated with effective problem-solving skills and attention to detail    
•Strong communication skills and ability to work with multicultural engineering teams
•Ability to proactively drive projects with minimal guidance or supervision
•Ability and willingness to provide input on technical solutions both product and manufacturing related
•Knowledge of basic quality trouble shooting techniques
•Knowledge of statistical analysis tools (SixSigma)
•Use of 2D (AutoCAD) and 3D (Creo) CAD software preferred 
•Fluent in spoken and written English, German would be an advantage
