Job Overview

TE Connectivity's Purchasing Teams are responsible for obtaining materials, components, equipment and services, gather quotations, examine bids, and award contracts. They perform cost analysis and volume planning for commodities, evaluate vendor reliability and develop new supply sources where required. They coordinate purchasing activities with the manufacturing and engineering departments to maintain inventory at planned levels and monitor cost, schedule, and scope of assigned subcontracts to assure best quality at best value. They also look for and recommend cost saving proposals including make vs. buy analysis, alternative sourcing, and vendor evaluation criteria as well as develop specifications for new contract orders.

 

Tasks & Responsibilities: 

 

  • Support team with target cost commitment to facilitate project acquisition phase.
  • As regular communication with Product Line Management to understand and influence the Product Line Strategy and priority setting.
  • Creates the NPI road map to communicate the Product Line future requirements, goals & objectives to ensure awareness and gap closure actions within the different Procurement Functions.
  • Is accountable for New Product Introduction on-time and in budget and supports necessary escalations to achieve customer timing and Projects Financial targets.
  • Drives cost reduction initiatives using typical Procurement leverage such as incremental volume or VA/VE opportunities in order to maximize product line Operating Income.
  • Ensures compliance with TE Supply Chain strategy regarding low inventory, lean value streams and days of payables outstanding.
  • Ensures compliance with TE Competitive bidding policy and Commodity strategies.
  • Participates in negotiations with a significant impact to meet project financial target
  • Identifies and drives process improvements and updates or creates the required documentation.
  • Coaches and directs team members
  • Accountable for the achievement of the NPI Procurement KPI scorecard for the Product Lines in scope.

What your background should look like:

 

  • Bachelor degree in Economics or Industrial Engineering or equivalent Toolmaker (Stamping/ Molding or Assembly tools)
  • Minimum 5 years experience in Automotive Industry
  • Several years experience in Procurement
  • Several years experience in a technical field, e.g. process engineering, product engineering, tool manufacturing.
  • Extensive experience in working with multicultural and cross functional teams
  • Leadership experience (direct and/or functional reporting)
  • High level expertise in procurement competencies – e.g.: business / supply chain acumen, negotiation, sourcing strategy development and execution, project / product lifecycle management)
  • Advanced knowledge in the use of SAP and Microsoft Office, i.e. Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint
  • Fluent in English (negotiation level), German is a plus
