Job Overview

The Director of Sales will be a key member of the North American leadership team and be part of the Global Sales & Marketing organization.  A successful candidate will facilitate the strategic planning process for sales and define a strategy that meets the organizations growth objective of two times the market in the industries managed.

 

This person will lead a skilled sales team focused on OEM level design activities as well as supporting the supply chain for the industries served.  In addition, this position will manage the customer service team to ensure a close relationship with our customers and create an exceptional customer experience throughout the entire sales process.  The sales leader will also ensure the NA ICT sales strategy is carried out with our distribution partners, third party manufacturer’s representatives, and adjoining business unit sales teams that sell and support ICT’s products and customers.  

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the ICT OEM sales and customer service teams in North America. 
  • Work closely with internal and external distribution teams as well to ensure ICT sales strategy is being implemented.
  • Continually analyze current sales trends, market conditions and other pertinent information to drive Sales and Operations Planning process to ensure all areas are capable of meeting customer needs
  • Develop a robust revenue and forecasting plan based on new program wins/losses, market trends, and supply chain conditions
  • Work closely with product management, engineering, and business development to develop the product roadmap for future generation products
  • Utilize existing relationships with customers to drive accelerated growth in adjacent technologies within TE’s product portfolio
  • Responsible for conducting analysis of sales territories to ensure high productivity, account penetration and the ability to leverage all opportunities. 
  • They must also have an ability to continually energize customers, team members, and key internal constituents to build on the company's historical areas of success
  • Coordinate the activities in NA with their counterparts in EMEA and AP.
  • Ongoing travel to customers in NA, and International travel as needed as a senior member of the Sales team.

 

Qualifications:

  • A B.S. degree in Engineering or Business is required; an MBA is preferred.
  • 10+ years of successful sales experience with a minimum of 5 years successful sales leadership experience
  • Experience in evaluating market conditions, trends, opportunities, and competitive threats
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a team, as well as a track record of developing sales talent
  • Ability to lead a large virtual and dispersed team of field sales employees
  • Strong organizational skills for managing and coordinating a variety of activities in a fast paced environment.
  • Sound strategic thinking with results orientation and execution skills
  • Experience identifying opportunities to improve profitability and/or support execution of initiatives driven by others
  • Strong relationship building ability and ability to influence others to work effectively in a matrix organization
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and able to work with all levels of and organization both internally and with customers
