Job Overview

TE Connectivity's Machinist Team's responsibilities include, assignment planning, layout, set up, operating and making tool adjustments for various types of manual, numerically controlled and computerized machine shop equipment. They work from blueprints, process sheets and sketches to perform production tasks, which may include the cutting and shaping of metal to precision dimensions, communicating directly with engineers to understand the purpose of a part assembly. Every team member is responsible for maintaining housekeeping and organization of the work area as well as following TE Connectivity's EH&S policies and procedures.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Production Machinist – CNC Flat Grinding   2nd Shift

The Application Tooling Division of TE Connectivity is currently seeking a skilled Production Machinist to join our component machining team on 2nd Shift.  This role will support our business goals and our Customers' expectations, and will be primarily assigned to the CNC Flat Grinding work centers - with a back-up role for CNC Mills, HMC's and manual machines.

Core Shift Hours:

Mon-Fri 2:45pm to 11:15pm

For current Application Tooling Employees:

Employees with active disciplines (documented verbal warning within the last 6 months; 1st written above within the last 12 months), on a current Performance Improvement Plan, or who have voluntarily moved to another role/shift within the last 6 months will not be considered for this role.

Responsibilities

  • Visualize, comprehend and forward think the best machining practices necessary to complete part
  • Produce quality component parts by interpreting blue prints, potentially running operations on a variety of machines, including:
    • Wire EDM
    • Cut-off Saw
    • Manual or CNC Mill
    • Flat and/or Form Grinder (primary assignment)
    • Appropriate Heat Treat method
    • Lathes
  • Hold tolerances as tight as .0002 for various components
  • Troubleshoot issues and work with appropriate resource(s) (i.e. Engineering, Supervision, Inspection, etc.) to resolve
  • Perform first-piece inspection using micrometers, calipers, height indicator, etc.
  • Comprehend shop math and be resourceful in deciphering dimensions, tolerances, angles, etc.
  • Effectively manage work time and be self-directed in order to meet production needs/schedules
  • Exhibit understanding, flexibility and willingness to changing priorities and fast-pace environments
  • Communicate effectively with peers, management and other internal departments

Qualifications & Experience 

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Minimum of 3-5 years machine shop experience running various machine equipment
  • Demonstrated knowledge of manual milling and grinding
  • Basic knowledge/comprehension of shop math
  • Heat treat knowledge or experience a plus
