Job Overview

Do you have a passion for developing teams and supplier strategy? At TE we are looking for a strong Strategic Sourcing Manager to help grow our strategic sourcing team while developing and executing on supplier sourcing strategies. The Strategic Sourcing Manager will be responsible for building and developing teams, strategy development and execution.

What you will be doing...

As a member of our strategic sourcing team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing multi-year strategies for assigned commodities, suppliers, and parts/services to achieve established goals in supplier quality, delivery, price and service. This role will align strategy and execution with cross-functional partners and execute the competitive bid, negotiation, contracting processes and continuous improvement.

 

As a Manager, Strategic Sourcing, a typical day may include:

 

  • Developing a strong procurement team with goals focused around productivity, delivery, quality, cash flow and risk minimization.
  • Drive cost savings activities including e-sourcing, re-sourcing, engineering changes, and commodity management strategies to reduce costs.
  • Drive Lean initiatives following TE’s Operating Advantage within Procurement
  • Lead process to implement and maintain contracts, consignment and stocking program activities to support reduced lead times from suppliers.
  • Negotiates agreements with suppliers to hold and maintain raw material inventory
  • Reviews supplier cost increase requests, actions and drive submittal review within the BU’s sourcing council.

What your background should look like...

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or similar
  • 5-7 years’ experience within purchasing/procurement role with 2-3 years’ experience in a managerial role
  • Strong understanding and working experience with SAP
  • Broad knowledge base of manufacturing principles, sourcing strategy development, supplier management experience in commodities
  • Strong communication and PC/Microsoft Office skills

 

Nice to have:

  • Master’s degree
  • Experience in commodities such as machining, molding, plating, stamping, metals and PCBs
  • Experience in “project-based” customers in low-volume / high-mix / highly regulated markets a plus.
