Job Overview

TE Connectivity’s internship program is designed to provide interns with real world experience to enhance classroom knowledge. Uniquely crafted assignments and meaningful projects provide interns with a challenging 10 – 12 week experience. Interns will gain exposure to senior leadership and be given professional development opportunities. At the end of the summer, interns will be provided the opportunity to pursue full-time placement within TE Connectivity.  

 

 

Responsibilities & Qualifications

  • The successful candidate will develop the plan and process to implement cost savings from VAVE and engineering. 
  • The candidate will need to work with cross-functional teams from different Business Units and different backgrounds to support one global strategy for the Electronics team of TE, which focuses on VAVE and engineering:
  • Developing a global strategy for VAVE implementation
  • Driving cost reduction ideas with the engineering teams
  • Project management
  • Implementing, qualifying, and developing preferred suppliers and parts

 

Responsibilities 

  • Electrical Engineer with a passion for the commercial purchasing side of the business. 
  • Negotiations with suppliers and internal customers on the strategy and best total cost of ownership
  • Lead in VAVE project and implementation with the commodity managers
  • Functional expert on active IC-related issues such as part qualification, quality, delivery, cost, and development
  • Ensure lowest upfront cost by aiding in supplier and technical selection
  • Complete Value Stream Mapping activity
  • Work closely with Commodity Manager in the Business Unit to ensure the sharing of best-practices
  • Drive innovation and building supplier strategic relationships
  • Work with the Global Commodity BU leads to support supplier negotiation strategies as it relates to cost drivers and VAVE
  • Knowledge of supplier roadmap; Analyze / influence fit with TE new product roadmap

 

Qualifications

  • Motivated employee who is not afraid to challenge company "norms" and push for change
  • Ability to speak persuasively in front of a large audience, including members who may be executive level engineers
  • An employee who understands the technical aspect of electronics, but has a passion for commercial purchasing
  • Must work well in international teams with members from a wide array of functional backgrounds
  • Time zone flexibility and an ability to travel
  • English language skills in speech and writing
  • Accredited 4-year university degree with an Electrical Engineering degree preferred
  • Computer knowledge: MS-Office
