Job Overview

TE Connectivity’s Quality and Reliability Engineering Teams analyze the ability of product and production systems to comply with customer and contractual requirements through established reliability factors. They design, recommend revisions and install quality control systems, develop and document analytical methods for establishing reliability of products and their components and conduct analysis on relative reliability with regards to cost, structure, weight, maintainability, facility of production, and availability of materials and equipment. Out teams develop, implement and monitor company environmental safety programs and policies to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental, health and safety regulations and recommend corrective actions if necessary. They are responsible for policies and practices to comply with applicable government regulations and industry requirements related to product environmental compliance, the implementation and management of technical and testing standards and specifications, quality control and reliability programs governing materials, product and processes, resulting in the optimization of material and labor, as well as failure analysis, root cause, corrective action and customer communication.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

 Supplier Quality Engineer

Position Overview:

 Working under direction of the Global Supplier Quality Manager, the Supplier Quality Engineer is part of a Global team responsible for the commodity / manufacturing site supplier performance for the Aerospace Defense & Marine (AD&M) Business unit.
 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Monitor, communicate and improve key supply chain KPI’s, including Supplier DLPM disruptions supplier problem solving on time, cost recovery and supplier warranty indicators on a monthly basis
  2. Conduct supplier audits to drive process standardization, waste elimination, and continuous improvement
  3. Champion problem solving and root cause analysis activities with suppliers and customers to eliminate recurrence of non‐conformances
  4. Develop Quality Improvement Plan with low performing suppliers
  5. Lead supplier focus review meetings with suppliers and Aerospace Defense & Marine business Unit Management team
  6. Work to resolve supplier technical issues in a timely manner to ensure continuity of supply
  7. Aide Manufacturing  site in the evaluation and qualification of new supplier materials following a defined APQP process
  8. Strategically lead supplier performance improvement projects in an effort to increase the supplier capability of consistently meeting TE Connectivity requirements.
  9. Support the site Quality Manager to monitor and report on supplier product quality and performance
  10. Lead in ensuring Purchase Order  Flow Down, Legal and Regulatory requirements are met and sustained
  11. Actively manage suppliers to ensure there are no regressions with the implementation of new processes
  12. Lead in the approval of First Article Inspection (FAI) reports from Suppliers
  13. Participate in cross-functional teams in the development of new products or supplier changes related to current products in meeting customer requirements
  14. Promote and Drive “Zero Defect” mentality within the supply base in the use of such as Lean, Six-Sigma, Poka-Yoke (Error Proofing), Measurement System Analysis, Advance Product and Quality Planning (APQP) Statistical Process control (SPC) and Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) with suppliers

 

 

Qualifications        

  • Five or more years of experience in Quality Engineering; with three or more years of Supplier Quality Engineering experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality or related technical field.
  • Demonstrated expertise in quality tools, practices and procedures.
  • Strong interpersonal skills are required.
  • Working knowledge ISO 9000 and preferably AS-9100.
  • Strong Auditing skills
  • Process control knowledge and implementation experience (PFMEA. SPC, CPK, Gage R & R, DOE, Control Plans, etc.).
  • Knowledge of and experience in problem solving implementation such as 8D, 5 whys and  fishbone Analysis
  • Manufacturing plant experienced is preferred
  • Experience in Assembly, Stamping, Machining , Plating and Molding is preferred
  • Proficiency in Demonstrated ability to make independent, informed decisions.
  • Ability to communicate in English language clearly in both written and verbal forms.
  • Ability to travel 30%
