Job Overview

TE Connectivity’s R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams conceive original ideas for new products, introduce them into practice. They are responsible for product development, and qualification from market definition through production and release; assist in the qualification of suppliers for new products to ensure suppliers deliver quality parts, materials, and services for new or improved manufacturing processes; conduct feasibility studies, testing on new and modified designs; direct and support detailed design, testing, prototype fabrication and manufacturing ramp. The R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams provide all required product documentation including, but not limited to, Solid Model, 2D/3D production drawings, product specifications, and testing requirements. They create and modify detailed drawings and drafting or conceptual models from layouts, rough sketches or notes and contribute to design modifications to facilitate manufacturing operation or quality of product. Typical fields of expertise include: materials, mechanics and systems, electrical, optics, chemistry, software, automation systems, packaging, testing and measurement, and manufacturing of electrical, mechanical and electronic components, products, and their integration into systems.

TE Sensors Solutions is seeking a talented Product Development Engineer with experience in designing and developing aerospace force sensors.  As part of the development of a new aerospace force sensor production line at our Hermosillo site, we are looking for a Mechanical Engineer who will participate in new products development and will verify that the production line meets the product requirements. The ideal candidate will have a can-do attitude, minor supervision or self-directed, the ability to work across cultures and functions, strong attention to detail and an aptitude for analyzing and improving engineering and product development

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Responsabilities

  • Work in collaboration with operational and quality teams to solve any issue, exemption request, component obsolescence or sourcing issue on Aerospace Sensor production according to AS91000 quality standard, making sure that product reliability and performances are maintained.
  • Define the design according to customer requirements (internal / external).
  • Realize the 3D models and the 2D drawings.
  • Justify the design of mechanical parts (analytical calculations, EF analysis, fatigue analysis)
  • Define, perform or monitor validation tests and write test reports.
  • Be force of proposals to improve the performance, the reliability or the product profitability.
  • Participate in 8D analysis and risk analysis.
  • Ensure the respect of the planning constraint

Competencies

  • 3-5+ Design experience in the Aerospace, Automotive or similar market
  • A first experience in Design Office is desired.
  • Good skills in CAD software and finite element simulation (preferably Solidworks).
  • Basic knowledge in sensor / measurement technology (strain gages Wheatstone bridge…)
  • Able to carry out several action plans simultaneously.
  • Team spirit and good interpersonal skills
  • Rigorous, Methodical, Autonomous
  • Fluent English (read, write, speak)
  • DFSS is a plus
