Position Overview:

This position will serve as the lead supplier development resource within North America procurement team. The selected candidate will be the main contact for new supplier on-boarding as well as development in Mexico (as well as potentially in USA), work in various localization and transfer teams to provide regular updates about supplier’s on-boarding and capabilities. He/she will be required to work with current supplier development/supplier quality teams as well as the corporate teams for cross-functional engagement and act as the lead supplier auditor.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Supplier Development - Lead successful on-boarding of new suppliers from product quality, systems quality. Develop and deploy the improvement projects at key suppliers to improve supplier overall performance and increase productivity. Support to organize and conduct the key supplier quality performance review. Support supplier training for TE system/requirements/initiatives.
  • Supplier Audits - Perform various supplier assessments, including quality, product compliance (RoHS/REACH), Supplier Social Responsibility, etc, as requested by BUs/Corporate functions. Perform the re-audit and/or follow up audit. Perform the supplier audit with specific quality improvement purpose
  • Specific Project Support - Assist localization sourcing supplier development and qualification to meet BU specific quality and/or industrial requirements to achieve localization goals. Support BU specific requests in critical quality issues solving. Work with Launch NPI buyers on new project requirements and identify capable options for such business.
  • Use TEOA to meet overall BU’s quality targets for incoming as well as support BU’s target for outgoing quality target.

Job Overview

TE Connectivity's Supplier Development Teams find and develop suppliers to support the strategic sourcing organization in driving incremental performance in supplier quality, delivery, price and service. They teach new suppliers on how to work with TE (portal access, e-procurement tool usage, TE procedures, etc.). They extend TE Operational Advantage into the supply base to generate continuous improvement in the extended value stream, deliver incremental improvements through supplier development lead projects and achieve improvement targets specific for supplier development. They also help drive selection and development of the best total cost supply option in the region where the commodity or service is consumed. They keep abreast of emerging market options and inform the broader procurement organization of trends and new supply options.

Qualifications:
•Minimum of Bachelor’s degree (Master preferred) in engineering or quality.
•At least 4-5 years of relevant quality management / supplier management and supplier on-boarding experience.
•Business acumen, strong communication and negotiation skills, Leadership, creativity, bilingual language skills (English and Spanish), presentation skills, patient, influencing skills
•Previous experience in conducting external audits using ISO/TS requirements.
•Practical understanding of basic operational issues (Kanban, JIT, Kaizen, 5S, VA / VE, Lean)
•Automotive industry experience a plus.
•Experience with project management software as well as project management understanding a plus.
•SAP experience a plus.
