Job Overview

The Process Development Engineer will develop manufacturing techniques and processes that are enabled via various manual, semi-automatic, and high speed automatic sensor assembly equipment, ideally in conjunction with the development of the product.  Additionally, the Process Development Engineer evaluates multiple approaches, and creates, studies and validates the processes required to produce high quality parts consistently in accordance with TE Process objectives.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Job Duties:

  • Develop various approaches to sensor processing
  • Evaluate multiple approaches to determine which processes are most consistent and economical
  • Develop manual, semi-automatic, and high speed automatic assembly equipment for sensors
  • Create machine specifications and process documentation that defines the process, including specific process details and process controls
  • Conduct machine design reviews, milestone reviews, machine acceptance run-offs and troubleshooting
  • Conduct technical problem solving as required
  • Drive and contribute to new process planning activities including PFMEA, Control Plans, Work Instructions, etc.
  • Participate on NPI teams, suggesting design optimizations to help steer the product design to achieve lowest cost and highest manufacturing efficiency
  • Design and execute Design of Experiments to identify the manufacturing input parameters that drive and/or link directly to key performance attributes (outputs)
  • Determine the control limits that are correlated to product functionality
  • Perform Process qualification including all related documentation
  • Identify the optimum settings for critical to performance inputs
  • Work with the Project/Product/Costing Management teams to manage project prioritization, design, capital expense, and resource allocation needs
  • Ensure best practices regarding the use of and adoption of engineering processes and tools to allow efficient delivery of projects and the support of existing products
  • Ensure engineering team implements and operates in accordance with Safe Launch procedures for NPI
  • Work with receiving Manufacturing Engineering teams within the operations locations to transfer knowledge and lessons learned to ensure VOC improvements are continued for delivered processes

 

Skills/ Qualifications:

  • 4+ years process development experience
  • Experience executing and delivering new process development projects to time, cost and quality
  • Previous experience with CAD, tool and/or machine design
  • Ability to work within a multicultural engineering team
  • Demonstrated success in delivering process innovation development projects
  • Strong communication skills
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills
  • BS Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical)
  • Six Sigma background/ experience is a plus
