Lab Leader- Product Performance Engineering

What you'll be doing...

 

As the Product Performance Laboratory Leader, you'll be responsible for improving product performance through Design Verification, Product Validation and Troubleshooting activities. This position requires strong leadership  to oversee the laboratory staff and ensure proper test plans, resources and the use of testing machines. Also responsible for understaning industry specifications, to discuss testing procedures and results with the Engineering team, prepare samples and report test results and suggestions for iimprovements based on the results.

 

A typical day may include:

  • Discussing test procedures with requesters based on given specifications and define testing setup.
  • Controlling and accepting testing samples.
  • Planning resources (staff and machines) and define priorities.
  • Mantaining testing equipments.
  • Following timeframe given for testing.
  • Defining required fixtures for testing set ups.
  • Providing analysis of testing samples and potential improvements when needed.
  • Providing verbal and written report of testing results.
  • Leading lab staff in daily activities. 
  • Discuss with Lab Manager resources needed for the laboratory.

 

What your background should look like...

 

  • BS Degree in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering preferred
  • Experience working as a lead in a laboratory environment
  • Excellent communication & presentation skills (oral & written)
  • Ability to deal with multiple priorities, multi-tasking and establish priorities based on urgencies and internal/external customer expectations
  • Ability to work well within a cross-functional team environment including all engineering, project management, and quality functions of internal departments as well as major customers and vendors
  • Strong organizational and problem solving skills. Strong attention to detail. Self-starter and enthusiastic
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite, Outlook, SAP, and CAD (preferred Pro-Engineering) applications
  • Ability to lead people

 

Nice to have...

  • Confirmed experience in technical laboratories and good knowledge to operate testing equipment such as temperature chambers, thermal shock cameras, shaker, and others.
  • Minimum of 5 years automotive experience in similar or related companies.
  • Knowledge of automotive terminal and connector products, materials and processes, OEM and Tier 1 applications, and other automotive requirements.
