Calibration & Metrology Specialist

Job Overview

The Calibration & Metrology Specialist will apply knowledge of measurement science, mathematics, physics, and electronics to calibrate inspection, measurement, and test equipment in the Electrical, Mechanical, Dimensional, DC/Low Frequency, Fluid, Thermodynamics, and Time & Frequency disciplines to ensure measurement accuracy. The Calibration Specialist will identify and utilize appropriate measurement procedures.  This position will provide calibration support for test equipment at two TE Connectivity Test Lab locations in the Harrisburg, PA area.               

Responsibilities & Qualifications

What you will be doing…    

As a Calibration & Metrology Specialist, a typical day may include:

  • Calibrate inspection, measurement, and test equipment (IM&TE) in one or more of the following disciplines –  Electrical, Mechanical, Dimensional, DC/Low Frequency, Fluid, Thermodynamics, and Time & Frequency, in order to ensure compliance with published specifications
  • Work with outside suppliers and OEM’s for calibration and repair of measurement and test equipment including fiber optic test equipment.
  • Perform maintenance, troubleshooting and minor repair of precision equipment
  • Develop calibration procedures and methods, according to detailed specifications, blueprints, drawings, and other technical requirements
  • Collect, compile, measure, summarize, and record data gathered during calibration.

What your background should look like…

  • This position requires access to information which is subject to stringent controls under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or Export Administration Regulations (EAR).   Applicants must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. lawful permanent resident, person granted asylee status in the U.S., or person admitted into the U.S. as a refugee.
  • Minimum AS degree, formal PMEL training, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years of calibration experience. Will consider less than 3 years if applicant’s AS degree is in Measurement Science & Metrology Technology

Nice to have:

  • ASQ CCT Certification a plus.
  • Knowledge of Quality Management systems (ISO 9001, ISO 17025 and Z540)
