Position Overview:     

This position is part of the Global Procurement Organization, Indirect Materials and Services, Center Led organization, specifically as a Strategic Sourcing Analyst III for Tooling category for all Mexico locations. This position reports to the Purchasing Manager for the Mexico Region who reports to the Director of Americas Indirect Procurement.

 

Job Overview

TE Connectivity's Strategic Sourcing Teams develop and implement multi-year strategies for assigned commodities, suppliers and parts/services to achieve established goals in supplier quality, delivery, price and service. They align strategy and execution with cross-functional partners such as engineering, manufacturing, product management and functional owners. They execute the competitive bid, negotiation, contracting processes and/or technical continuous improvement for assigned commodities or services; collaborate across Business Units and cross-regions for optimal TE leverage. Our teams demonstrate a high level of expertise in procurement competencies (business/supply chain acumen, negotiation, sourcing strategy development and execution, global savvy, and project and product lifecycle management) and ensure results are delivered compliant with TE policies and procedures.

  • Essential Functions:

Coordinates purchasing activities with Tooling engineers, manufacturing  and engineering departments to agree needs to support Operations.  Gathers quotations, examines bids, and makes awards.  Performs cost analysis and volume planning for Tooling commodity.  Evaluates vendor reliability, developing new supply sources where required.    Monitors cost, schedule, and scope of assigned subcontracts to assure best quality at best value. Recommends cost saving proposals including make vs. buy analysis, alternative sourcing, and vendor evaluation criteria.  Provides guidance and review to less experienced buyers.

 

Develops and implements multi-year strategy for the commodity, suppliers and parts/services to achieve established goals in supplier quality, delivery, price and service. Aligns strategy and execution with cross-functional partners such as engineering, manufacturing, product management and functional owners and in line with regional commodity leader. Executes the competitive bid, negotiation, contracting processes utilizing e-source bidding (Zycus) and/or technical continuous improvement for the commodity or services in the region; collaborates cross-BU and cross-region for optimal TE leverage. Demonstrates a high level of expertise in procurement competencies (business/supply chain acumen, negotiation, sourcing strategy development and execution, global savvy, and project and product lifecycle management).

 

Assures results are delivered compliant with TE policies and procedures (both Corporate and BU related ones).

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree required; Master's Degree preferred.
  • 5-7 years of purchasing, supply chain, engineering or technical management experience.
  • Project management knowledge and background in handling multiple projects at same time.
  • Strong analytical & negotiation skills
  • Strong communication and intercultural skills, ability to adapt and work with team members in various countries / cultures
  • Able to negotiate with key internal stakeholders as well as management team
  • Knowledge of Tooling requirements for Molding, Stamping and Assembly is a plus.
  • Advanced knowledge in the use of MS Office applications, i.e. Excel, Outlook, Word, and Power Point. Experience with MS Project as well as SharePoint is a plus.
  • SAP knowledge a plus
  • Travel up to 25% of time, some international travel involved.

 

RFQ / Contracts Process:

  • Ability to draft standard RFQ/RFI and E-procurement technology with requirements and ability to analyze suppliers’ response
  • knowledge of contracts including ability to develop non-standard contract language as needed
  • Skilled in contract negotiation and flexible to modify as needed to fit change required
  • Understanding Supplier Approval Process and relationships of related functions to ensure compliance

 

Price/Cost/Total Cost Analysis:

  • Demonstrated ability to perform cost/price analysis with total cost of ownership as objective
  • Utilize total cost of ownership analysis with supplier/commodity/project strategies
  • Ability to identify, negotiate, and implement cost avoidance/reduction opportunities through total cost analysis as applicable
  • Responsible for meeting savings targets for assigned areas
  • Market technology trends: Understand the effects of technology innovations, economics and global issues on a specific commodity or product.

Leadership:

  • Prior leadership and/or facilitation of internal teams and supplier meetings a plus
  • Project management experience a plus

  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:  

 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineer or commercial degree required; Master's Degree is a plus.
  • Bilingual, or at least 85% of English, both verbal and written
  • 5 – 7  years of purchasing, supply chain, engineering or technical management experience.
  • Project management knowledge and background in handling multiple projects at same time.
  • Strong analytical & negotiation skills
  • Strong communication and intercultural skills, ability to adapt and work with team members in various locations in Mexico
  • Able to negotiate with key internal stakeholders as well as management team in an international environment.
  • Advanced knowledge in the use of MS Office apps, i.e. Excel, Outlook, Word, and Power Point. Experience with MS Project as well as SharePoint is a plus.
