Job Overview

TE Connectivity’s internship program is designed to provide interns with real world experience to enhance classroom knowledge. Uniquely crafted assignments and meaningful projects provide interns with a challenging 10 – 12 week experience. Interns will gain exposure to senior leadership and be given professional development opportunities. At the end of the summer, interns will be provided the opportunity to pursue full-time placement within TE Connectivity.  

Responsibilities & Qualifications

The Applications & Test Group at TE Connectivity invites applications for a Summer Intern position in the area of Opto-Mechanical Engineering or a related field of study to support our team’s module development and packaging projects.  TE Connectivity is the home of well-known brands of electroic and photonic connectors with a wide span of applications from the telecommunications to the data center.  The A&T group plays a central R&D role within the company, supporting and developing leading edge fiber optic connector technologies.  Our team of experts offers tremendous opportunities for innovation and advancement of original knowledge in the field. 


We seek an energetic and creative intern to support ongoing R&D projects by assisting in the design, development and testing of new, innovative fiber optic connector technologies.  The applicant should be pursuing a BS or MS, preferably in Optical or Electrical Engineering or a similar field of study.  Candidates who enjoy hands-on work in a lab environment are preferred.  The ideal candidate will be an innovative thinker who learns quickly and is able to solve problems creatively while working with minimal supervision.


Education & Qualifications: 

  • Demonstrated ability to understand, analyze and evaluate a wide variety of complex technical issues
  • Innovative problem solving ability
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a team environment
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Good written and spoken communication skills
  • Pursuing a BS or MS, preferably in Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics or related field of study
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 in Major

  • High level of initiative and drive, energetic, proactive, and hardworking;
  • Strong communications skills; must demonstrates an open, honest, and transparent communication style with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent judgment and experiences in an environment which requires emotional maturity and the personal ability to interact with all types of personnel at varying levels;
  • High-level of intellectual curiosity combined with strong problem-solving and analytical skills;
  • Knowledge of SolidWorks or Zemax or similar opto-mechanical simulation software is highly desirable.
