The Senior Product Development Engineer will report to the CF Product Design Team Manager. The role will be responsible for Computer Aided design of products and sustaining engineering support for TE Energy’s LV, MV, and HV Connectors & Fittings products. Responsibilities include:
- Designing TE Energy connector products for LV, MV & HV applications using metallic and polymeric materials
- 3D CAD design using Creo/Pro-E & 2D CAD design
- Product Data management of eBOMs
- Supporting New Product Developments across a range of projects and executing on cost optimization/reduction (VA/VE) opportunities for the business
- Reverse Engineering competitor products
- Proficient at 3D scanning & 3D printing equipment
- Preparing design verification test plans, Design & Process FMEAs
- Recording results of design reviews, design decision meetings, and writing technical summaries
- Designing of jigs & fixtures for product testing where required.
- Supporting product compliance and approvals for all new products and platforms as required by our customers.
- Being a strong technical partner and providing support to Product management teams. Attending/supporting customer meetings, technology days and site visits as required.

What your background should look like:
- A minimum of 10 years of engineering related experience for Energy market applications, with specific experience in the Solar market
- Demonstrated track record of designing power connectors for power systems up to 245kV
- Intimate knowledge of PV connectors, fuse harnesses, and solar farm trunk architecture
- Experience with product design of connectors for high-voltage power networks and/or network accessories is essential
- Knowledge in connector product design utilizing aluminum and copper materials
- Knowledge of designing grounding connector systems an advantage
- Knowledge of materials properties (permittivity, conductivity, permeability, dissipation factor, influence of temperature and field stress)
- Experience in 3D CAD design tools such as Creo
- Experience in reverse engineering an advantage
- LDFSS or DMAIC 6-sigma black or green belt an advantage
- Strong knowledge and understanding of ANSI, UL, IEEE, IEC connector specifications
- Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Degree
- Proficient in MS Office suite
- Willingness to travel
- Fluent English a plus
- Strong customer service mindset and mentality of delivering quality products and services on time and within company cost and profitability objectives.
- Fluent communication skills facilitating collaboration with own team, customers, internal business leaders and technology leaders to create value.
- Individual must be self-motivated and require minimum supervision, have strong planning skills and be able to deal with and balance multiple competing priorities
