Job Overview

TE Connectivity's Manufacturing and Process Development Engineering Teams significantly impact LEANPD driven new product development projects, driving for excellence in existing manufacturing technologies and methods and striving to implement new manufacturing technologies to provide improved process and tolerance control. They act as the binding element between product development and manufacturing engineering, ensuring the effectiveness and efficiency of this critical interface. They support Product Development in the optimization of designs and piece parts for manufacturability by realizing sample tooling/products/prototypes. They also design, develop, and qualify tooling and processes to meet TE quality and production standards, document all processes and tooling in applicable TE systems, support supply chain to verify supplier compliance and capability, initiate and implement programs to continuously improve quality, cost and cycle time and adhere to all appropriate specifications, regulatory requirements and customer requirements.


This is a mechanical engineering role focused on designing and testing manufacturing equipment that we develop in our factory. It will include process development and refinement for optimal function. Additionally, there will be new Product Development programs to meet the needs of ET designers. There will be testing and qualification requirements to prove in all new equipment, processes and products.

This role reports to the Managing Director and works closely with Production and Development teams.

Responsibilities & Qualifications


• Design mechanical systems, fixtures, guards, supports, etc.
• CAD, 3D design, prototype, build, test and verification of solutions.
• Prepare Drawings and get Quotations from suppliers.
• Procure off the shelf parts for equipment upgrades.
• Install and test EH&S and Machine Guarding solutions.
• Complete testing and qualification documentation of solutions to Subsea reliability standards. 
• Write Reports and present Design Reviews.
• Conduct R&D studies of new processes and products.

• Masters or PhD Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or similar field such as Mechtronics). 
• 15 years Mechanical Engineering experience in Industry with SolidWorks CAD.
• Understanding of Quality Management Systems and ISO 9001.
• Experience in designing fixturing.
• Knowledge of metal Manufacturing processes (sheet metal, machining).
• Experience working with various materials (metals, polymers, glass).
• Knowledge of Optical Fibre technology. 
• Knowledge of Design of Experiments.
• Knowledge of Lean/Six Sigma in manufacturing.
• Experience in the application of D/PFMEA.
• Hands on ability to build/repair machines, use tools.
• Ability to manage an aggregate of projects.
• Excellent communication skills (oral and written).
