Job Overview

TE Connectivity's Strategic Sourcing Teams develop and implement multi-year strategies for assigned commodities, suppliers and parts/services to achieve established goals in supplier quality, delivery, price and service. They align strategy and execution with cross-functional partners such as engineering, manufacturing, product management and functional owners. They execute the competitive bid, negotiation, contracting processes and/or technical continuous improvement for assigned commodities or services; collaborate across Business Units and cross-regions for optimal TE leverage. Our teams demonstrate a high level of expertise in procurement competencies (business/supply chain acumen, negotiation, sourcing strategy development and execution, global savvy, and project and product lifecycle management) and ensure results are delivered compliant with TE policies and procedures.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Main Target Summary

The Senior Strategic Project Buyer will be dedicated to a transfer project into Bydgoszcz production facility and is responsible for implementing regional sourcing strategies for the relevant commodities and suppliers in order to reach the respective sourcing targets in delivery, productivity, cost, and quality. Moreover, this position is responsible for supplier capacity management and supplier compliance with relevant TE requirements.


Tasks Summary & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for defining the strategy and classification (grow/fix/exit/develop) for the suppliers related to a transfer project into the Bydgoszcz facility – under strong cooperation with the Regional Commodity Manager, Supplier Quality Manager and Supply Chain Management.
  • Responsible for selecting suppliers that best fit to the defined commodity strategy and relevant product sourcing strategy, including biding, awarding and sourcing and contracting of new suppliers, and approving set up of new suppliers while ensuring number of suppliers is further reduced
  • Responsible for lead time improvement, including tracking and review of STC/ STR performance with relevant suppliers and driving of strategic improvement plans
  • Follow up with Suppliers on open orders that were escalated by the tactical buyer in line with the SWI Procurement Escalation Process
  • Preparation and leadership of negotiations with special focus on high impact contracts with suppliers, including solution of contractual issues and providing MOQ and lead-time relevant information to Tactical Buyer
  • Quote and negotiate production material costs in order to ensure material productivity performance meets or exceeds expectations
  • Responsible to develop saving plans for the assigned suppliers and commodities (mostly with high strategic impact or size) to reach the saving targets, including cost savings through annual negotiations with strategic suppliers
  • Identifies technical possibilities for cost reductions and drive the implementation of them in cooperation with the engineering department
  • Responsible to screen proactively the market to identify suppliers and demands for the future, to identify development partners and to negotiate contracts with them.
  • Responsible to align required capacities with suppliers, including end of life strategy
  • Ensures compliance with the global sourcing process and policies for all activities under responsibility
  • Ensures suppliers are compliant with TEs social supplier responsibility and legal requirements, including RoHS, Conflict Minerals
  • Ensures supplier portal is used by suppliers (order confirmation, internet labelling)
  • Responsible to recognize proactively weaknesses in processes, to work on process improvements and to update or create the required the required documentation.
  • Drives analyses and plausibilisation of regular reports as well as pushing for Data accuracy / clean-up
