Job Overview

As a member of the Digital Strategy team, you will support the work required to maintain our taxonomy, information architecture, and content and knowledge management projects in order to sustain a customer-centric online catalog. You will lead taxonomy development initiatives, work directly with and negotiate across internal business units, and drive project objectives. You will help establish and govern company-wide best practices and assist with developing methodologies for all taxonomy projects.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Requirements

  • Supports the Corporate Product Data Taxonomist in the development and maintenance of taxonomies, including the reviewing of content for possible gaps in coverage, identifying new terms, synonyms, and term relationships
  • Creates categorization rules for new taxonomy terms as well as maintains and improves categorization rules for existing terms
  • Evaluates search performance as well as the relevancy of search results using a quality assurance scorecard to identify areas for improvement
  • Generates analytical reports on categorization, search, and related user behavior
  • Provides stakeholders guidance on taxonomy and findability, as well as explains decisions made by taxonomy team
  • Researches and explores innovations and best practices in discipline. Recommends and leads implementation of improvements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in library or information science or comparable formal training is strongly preferred
  • 1 to 2 years of experience in taxonomy, controlled vocabulary, and metadata development
  • Understanding of taxonomy best practices and standards
  • Familiarity with the engineering and manufacturing industry preferred
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Very high attention to detail
  • Comfortable working with large data sets
  • Excellent English language skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (e.g. Excel, PowerPoint, Word)

Other Desired Qualifications Include

  • Experience with online Hybris catalog and Synaptica taxonomy management systems
  • Experience with AEM content management and/or digital asset management systems
  • Experience managing a catalog for large web sites
  • Experience doing user research and usability testing
  • Experience preparing business or technical documentation
