Job Overview

TE Connectivity’s Product Engineering Teams optimize existing products from information or input provided by marketing, customers, Operation Teams, Development Engineers or other employees. They maintain existing products, processes, and specifications including modifications for new applications consistent with manufacturing techniques and economies. They also initiate and implement programs to continuously improve quality, and cost, while meeting customer requirements and may support and implement product extensions to existing platform products to meet specific customer requirements. They are the key experts in the products they are responsible for at TE.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Role Statement: This should be a brief description of your role within the organisation

The Harness Engineer is role is to understand the voice of customer and review the inputs supplied by the customer by having interactions with customer as necessary. He is responsible for generating economical commercial / technical offer from TE for the harness enquiries from various Aerospace, Defense and Marine customers.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Co-ordination with various departments internally.
  • Interacting with customers and sales teams to collect necessary inputs on design inputs for cable-harnessing projects
  • Responsible for meeting the target dates to submit the offer from TE
  • Responsible for providing most competitive cost of cable harness for the given application
  • Responsible get the best price for parts sourced from affiliates and non-affiliates

Key Qualifications, Experiences & Knowledge

  • Should be able to understand customer supplied harness / cable assembly drawings, documents and summarize the requirements.
  • Should have knowledge on cable assemblies & value-added assemblies for aerospace, Defence and Marine industry.
  • Thorough knowledge of QA & documentation requirements in DRDOs, DPSUs, OFBs etc.
  • Ability to evolve QT and AT procedures for harnesses and value-add assemblies by working and interacting with customer’s QA dept and end-users.
  • Should have analytical skills for product price analysis
  • Knowledge on defence systems
  • Knowledge on various harness product applications
  • Knowledge on quality and testing requirements of electronic components and system
  • Knowledge on MIL grade connectors and sealed harnesses

Key Competencies

  • Communication skills / English verbal and written
  • CAD Design
  • TE Engineering systems & Practices PDMLink / DMTech

Education and Experience

  • Diploma (Electrical / Electronics / Mechanical) with 4 ~ 6 years of experience in similar function / industry.
  • B.E (Electrical / Electronics / Mechanical) with 3 ~ 5 years of experience in similar function / industry.
