Job Overview

TE Connectivity’s R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams conceive original ideas for new products, introduce them into practice. They are responsible for product development, and qualification from market definition through production and release; assist in the qualification of suppliers for new products to ensure suppliers deliver quality parts, materials, and services for new or improved manufacturing processes; conduct feasibility studies, testing on new and modified designs; direct and support detailed design, testing, prototype fabrication and manufacturing ramp. The R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams provide all required product documentation including, but not limited to, Solid Model, 2D/3D production drawings, product specifications, and testing requirements. They create and modify detailed drawings and drafting or conceptual models from layouts, rough sketches or notes and contribute to design modifications to facilitate manufacturing operation or quality of product. Typical fields of expertise include: materials, mechanics and systems, electrical, optics, chemistry, software, automation systems, packaging, testing and measurement, and manufacturing of electrical, mechanical and electronic components, products, and their integration into systems.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

  • Be responsible, Co-ordinate and manage new development activities from Concept to production and understand the Mechanical, Environmental and Electrical requirements of a product.
  • Generate concept 3D models (Part & Sheet metal) & drawings using Creo and PDMlink (data Management) software.
  • Produce detailed Engineering Drawings, Product & Application Specifications.
  • Perform Tolerance analysis and implement GD&T. Tolerance consideration for ease of manufacturing & assembly fitment with lower cost.
  • DFM & DFA consideration during design of the component & connector assemblies.
  • Consideration of all aspects of the product functional requirement during Design like material behavior, Environmental condition, Structural requirement, Contact Physics, Protection of Contacts (by Plating), Plastic part quality, Tool requirements for Sheet-metal and Molded parts.
  • Able carryout DFMEA’s with cross-functional teams, conduct design reviews, ability to check and approve product designs (3D & 2D).

Critical Experience & Knowledge

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience
  • Extensive transnational working experience to leverage partnering with TE competency centers and using TE processes
  • Experience in design for manufacturing and assembly (DFMA), design for cost (DFC)
  • Previous experience building and sustaining high-performing multi-disciplinary engineering teams
  • Good Knowledge of manufacturing processes like Moulding, Stamping, Plating and other Metal Forming processes.
  • Good knowledge in New product development cycle and process and Product Life Cycle    management
  • Proficient in 3d modelling (part & sheet metal) and drawing using Creo Software
  •  Good working Knowledge of Tolerance Stack-up Analysis, GD&T, DFMEA and Design related calculations.
  •  Proven Ability to transform Voice of Customer into Technical Specifications
  • Capable of Handling Multiple Projects simultaneously.
