Job Overview

TE Connectivity Wire and Cable Swindon are looking to develop a skilled and enthusiastic Product Technician to be a key part of our Aerospace, Defense and Marine Engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity for an apprentice to learn mechanical, electrical and environmental product test methods, and gain experience in operating laboratory scale test and processing equipment, such as, Extruder, Mixer, Plaque press, Tensometer, Insulation Resistance Meter, Fluke tester. We offer excellent training package, as well as opportunity to learn from our experienced product engineers and material scientists.

 

Key tasks of the job:

 

· Wire and cable product testing (i.e. mechanical, environmental, electrical)

· Operating lab scale processing equipment (i.e. extruder, mixer, press)

· Interpretation of Product Drawings

· Interpretation of Product specification and standards

· Writing reports and procedures

· General laboratory house keeping

· Participation in training courses.

What your background should look like:

 

Qualifications & specialist training required: A Level / BTEC in science or engineering discipline.

 

Particular skill / aptitude required:

 

· Excellent communication skills written and verbal,

· Practical/hands on approach to problem solving,

· Able to follow prescribed methods and accurately document results,

· A keen interest in engineering or science,

· Be open and approachable, excellent team working skills,

· ‘Can do’ attitude

 

Job Specific Training:

 

· Suitable lab training will be provided.

· Study part-time at college for a higher/degree level qualification, TECHNICIAN SCIENTIST LEVEL 5 APPRENTICESHIP
