TE Connectivity's Purchasing Teams are responsible for obtaining materials, components, equipment and services, gather quotations, examine bids, and award contracts. They perform cost analysis and volume planning for commodities, evaluate vendor reliability and develop new supply sources where required. They coordinate purchasing activities with the manufacturing and engineering departments to maintain inventory at planned levels and monitor cost, schedule, and scope of assigned subcontracts to assure best quality at best value. They also look for and recommend cost saving proposals including make vs. buy analysis, alternative sourcing, and vendor evaluation criteria as well as develop specifications for new contract orders.

 

Job description:

  • Identification and development of suppliers for new technologies and gap closure in case of capacity issues 
  • Run competitive bidding process
  • Conduct Supplier Negotiations after the RFQ process
  • Create sourcing decision support document
  • Problem-solving with suppliers and internal functions 
  • Represent Procurement in Core Team meetings 
  • Understand the customer requirements and deploy the actions for the requirements within the organization and with the suppliers
  • Support other co-departments to achieve TE targets of TTM, savings, quality, delivery and localization
  • Contribute to implement TE Procurement strategy
  • Responsible for carrying out duties in accordance with the current quality and environmental policies of the company as well as the duties defined in employee’s scope of responsibilities

 

Requirements:

  • Mechanical engineer (preferably, but not a must)
  • Relevant experience in procurement
  • Know-how in assembly processes is a plus
  • Broad technical understanding of production processes
  • Analytical and problem solving skills, good interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to multi-task
  • High level of negotiation skills 
  • Ability to work in matrix environment with multi-cultural team
  • Fluent English and/or German at negotiation level
  • Willingness to travel
