Job Overview

We are building a world class Global Trade Services (GTS) organization and the Manager Global Trade Compliance    plays a critical role in supporting trade operations and compliance within the Sensors Business Unit (BU). 

 

The Manager Global Trade Compliance    is an individual contributor role and serves as trusted advisor and key team member within TE’s Operational Compliance team for the BU. The purpose of this role is to facilitate TE’s compliance, at the BU level, with import and export regulations globally to enhance global trade compliance, reduce risk, increase responsiveness to issues and opportunities, and facilitate effective operational aspects of international trade. 

 

This role will be responsible for 6 plants in Germany and reports to the Global Trade Services (GTS) Sensors EMEA Lead,. As part of the GTS team, the Manager Global Trade Compliance    will join a group of professionals who are passionate about ensuring the future growth of the business by providing business solutions for compliance with global trade laws and regulations.

Responsibilities:

 

Trade Compliance Activities in the BU

  • Supporting customs and foreign trade audits, evaluating audit reports and corrective actions to ensure compliance across the Sensors BU plants in Germany  
  • Creation of work instructions and provide trainings to our Customer Care, Engineering and Supply Chain departments  
  • Participating as GTS expert on projects in customs and foreign trade affairs (e.g. ERP automation)
  • Supporting the operational processing of customs brokers and identifying and implementing opportunities for process improvements 
  • Analyzing data and evaluating key figures to identify compliance risks and developing potential opportunities for cost savings and increased effectiveness 
  • Monitoring changes in trade regulations and legislation and evaluating the associated potential impact on the company, as well as conduct the necessary measures 
  • Maintain trade operations and compliance activities – such as trade compliance block and sanction controls, end-use and and-user screening - in accordance with TE policies, procedures, and controls, in collaboration with key stakeholders throughout the BU  
  • Ensuring that Sensor BU functions are following GTS policies
  • Manage export authorizations/licenses for 5 manufacturing sites of the Sensors BU in Germany, including license application and tracking of individual licenses as well as general licenses    
  • Working in collaboration with German customs authorities and BAFA

What your background should look like:

Success in the role requires strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills, strategic analysis and planning capabilities involving complex situations, highly developed oral and written communication skills and the ability to work with interdisciplinary teams (internal and external) to drive issues and projects to conclusion.  

 

In addition, successful candidate will have the following qualifications, experience, and skills:

 

  • Completed forwarding agent or foreign trade training or similar professional experience
  • 6+ years’ experience in global trade compliance or customs and foreign trade
  • Functional knowledge of import and export regulations and familiarity with customs practices in Germany
  • Functional knowledge of German export laws, and experience in determining and managing licenses and BAFA communication as well as license reporting
  • Functional knowledge of HTS classification
  • Familiar with MS Office applications (especially Excel incl. Pivot tables) and experience with Power BI is an additional advantage 
  • Analytical and process-oriented thinking, independent and structured way of working as well as a strong ability to work in a diverse team 
  • Fluent in German 
  • Solid written and spoken English skills 
  • Solid communication skills to interact efficiently with diverse teams across TE  
  • Preferred: knowledge of IT systems such as SAP and other BI applications  
  • Travel may be necessary in fulfillment of responsibilities
